SEILER VINEYARD
First inhabited by the Wappo natives, one hillside section of the vineyard was used as an armory for their obsidian tipped weaponry. Contrary to lore, obsidian does not contribute to flavor or minerality. However, it does play a critical role in the drainage and the porosity of the soil. The rocks and shards of obsidian allow water to flow into the soil and through the root structure of the vines. This moderates and balances growth of the vine and while maintaining the health of the fruit.
